I've been meditating before going to sleep
at night and find that I no longer have trouble falling asleep.

I've had problems with sleep for years
because of pain, but reading The Joy Within before going
to sleep and listening to Joan's CD, have changed that, and
I'm now able to sleep.

Recently I tripped and fractured my nose. It
required a “closed nasal reduction” (resetting of
the bone). Accompanied by my daughter for this procedure, I
had anxiety and trepidation. With only local anesthesia and
a sedative, I was prepared to experience pain. I decided to
meditate and put myself in another place. After a few minutes,
I heard a pop and felt a slight pressure. I had truly been “somewhere
else,” thanks to meditation.

When I find myself unable to sleep at night,
instead of tossing and turning, I read “The Joy Within.”
This relaxes me and lets me get back to sleep for another three
hours.

| Thursdays for me are sacred and if for some
reason I can’t attend a class, I feel deprived. I love
the way Joan guides us in meditation while encouraging us
and giving us techniques to develop our own meditation practice.
I also love the collection of poems and inspirational quotes
she brings to each class, and look forward to the moments
of utter joy I experience when she reads them to us.

The Joy Within” certainly
helped on the bus journey. Nice to be traveling on two levels!

I had sought to practice mediation for quite
a long time with records, classes and tapes, and though I did
some Tai Chi and visualization each day, I found it difficult
to set aside the time each day to meditate.
Then one day I saw that Joan Goldstein, co-author of “The
Joy Within,” was giving meditation classes at Karpas.
After a series of walking meditation classes in which she led
a meditation walk to Stuyvesant Cove, a beautiful park on the
East River, I suddenly began to feel something within me change.
Even when the series of walks ended I continued my meditation
walks to the cove where I looked out at the river and the sky
while focusing on my breath, silently repeating to myself, “Breathing
in, breathing out,” a technique we had been practicing.
While doing this, I suddenly, felt a glow rise up from within
me; a feeling of being one with all that I saw. I felt myself
smiling, as I realized I had experienced the joy within me.
Thank you so much Joan. Mike

Every second that I started to worry about something I made
it a point to literally repeat silently, breathing in and out
and it really helped to tune away all those worrisome thoughts.
I totally feel relaxed and less worrisome right now. I really
owe it to myself to give my body more time for me. This stuff
really works :)

I use the techniques to relax and remain focused.
When I’m focused my work seems to flow without my feeling
taxed and pressured. In fact, I feel energized.

This program should be recommended for all employees.
It gave me the tools for approaching work from a place of peace
instead of a place of angst. The result is a smoother workflow
and happier me.

I feel more relaxed and more able to deal with
stress or pressure. Being able to calm down in the middle of
change and anxiety has given me a new perspective. It’s
allowed me to turn the negatives into challenges.

The day after I took the class, I got stuck in
an elevator and didn’t panic. I focused on the techniques
and remained calm until help came. V.L.
